thanks for sharing your thoughts. I share your reasoning, it's indeed challenging to work without a deadline. I like doing the following:

- Define how much the business is willing to invest

- Come back to the team and ask honestly, what can we do to achieve this within this time limitation?

I generally get amazing reaction and engagement with this approach. The team knows the constraints and have a room to play. Sometimes the investment is too low to generate something meaningful, then, we need to balance.

The key point for me is being honest and transparent. Collaboration is vital to overcome challenges.
