You can get a better idea of more powerful decision models by reading The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, by Patrick Lencioni. Also, a good reference is Empowered, by Marty Cagan.
In both books, the authors argue against consensus because of its drawbacks. Patrick Lencioni for example, insists that people should open up and go into conflict, and then after all perspectives are shared, the leader makes the decision, and the group commits because they feel heard. Marty Cagan argues that the most qualified person on the matter should make the decision, still, she should listen to the others, but it makes little sense for a developer to make a design decision or a designer to make a coding decision.
I hope it gives you some insights on how to make decisions without consensus.
